Australian Citizenship by Decent

How to become an Australian citizen by decent?

If you were born overseas and you have an Australian citizen parent and you are looking to be an Australian citizen, then you have come to the right place.

You may be eligible for Australian citizenship if you have at least one parent who is an Australian and you were born after 25th of January 1949.  That is, you were born on Australia Day 1949 or after you may be eligble.

When applying for citizenship, if your documentation is not in English, it will not be accepted unless it has been officially translated.  Any document in a language other than English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.

Translationz can provide an certified translation of your documents.

Our Australian translators of immigation and citizenship documentation are accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters.

Our translators outside Australia do not need to be accredited, but they must endorse the translation with their full name, address, telephone number, and details of their qualifications and experience in the language being translated.

Some examples of translation of documents for citizenship include:

  • Translation of a change of name document
  • Translation of identity documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates and drivers license

When making copies of original documents, there are rules on certifying original documents.  Note:  This is is not necessary for the translated document.

Working as a Telephone Interpreter

By Karen Hodgson

Telephone Interpreting

Telephone communication still plays an important part in most businesses, even though it sometimes seems like everything is done online these days. This makes telephone interpreters vital to the operations of some companies, especially for companies that operate internationally or do a significant amount of business with foreign clients. Using telephone interpreters allows phone conversations to occur even when the parties involved don’t share a common language.
